MY APPROACH

A Space to Be Heard, Understood, and Connect

A9E1E93E-C6EF-4C5D-9009-27A43D18DC1E_1_105_c.jpeg

In my work with children and families, I've found that what people need most is often simple: a space where they can be truly heard and say what's really going on for them. That's the space I work to create.

I believe children and teens are always communicating what they're experiencing — often in a language adults can learn to hear and understand. My approach is collaborative and relational, and I work to include the important people in a child's life as part of the work. No two families are the same, so together we co-create an approach suited to your family and your goals for therapy.

With younger children, I often use play therapy and sand tray work — meeting them in the language they already speak fluently. With teens and young adults, talk therapy is often the foundation, though the work is always shaped by their individual needs and goals. When supporting parents, I draw on Positive Discipline philosophies, grounded in mutual respect and connection.

I also enjoy helping parents advocate for their child at school, in meetings, and beyond. This includes classroom and preschool observations, as well as consultation with school personnel on a wide range of concerns.

Education

I have a B.A. in Business & Psychology from Louisiana State University and an M.A. in Counseling from St. Edward's University in Austin.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Supervisor (LMFT-S), and I'm also a Certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educator.

Experience

I've been working with children, teens, families, school administration, and teachers since 2009 — in schools, in homes, through agency counseling with individuals, groups, and families, and now in private practice.

Outside of Work

In my off-work time, I enjoy digging into all things design — architecture and interior design especially. I love the outdoors and connecting with friends near and far and family. I cherish simple quality time with my husband and my two elementary-aged kiddos. They keep life busy and entertaining.
